- TROUBLE-SHOOTING
- ==================
-
- Explorer is an exciting, full-featured product that makes full use of all of the
- capabilities of your computer. It is recommended that you do not run any other
- programs while running Explorer to achieve the best possible performance.
-
- If you find that the graphics look incorrect, you likely have your video card set
- to less than 256 colours. A minimum of 256 colours are required to run Explorer
- correctly. Change your video to support 256 or more colours.
-
-
- Windows:
-
- If you find that videos are not playing, you probably did not install
- QuickTime during the installation. To correct the problem, run the
- installation again and ensure that you perform the QuickTime installation.
-
-
- Macintosh:
-
- Explorer requires a system with a minimum of 8MB of ram installed. However,
- some extensions may consume too much memory to allow Explorer to run properly.
- In order to use the program you may need to remove or turn off some of the
- extensions. Make sure that you do not remove the QuickTime, Sound Manager
- or CD-ROM extensions since you will need these to run the Explorer.
-
- You can also increase performance by allocating more memory to Explorer.
- This requires you to install the software to your hard drive.
- Select the Canadian Geographic Explorer icon in the Explorer folder on your
- hard drive, then choose Get Info from the File menu. Select the preferred
- size (in the bottom right corner) and set it as high as your RAM will allow.
- Close the information window.
-
- If you encounter problems starting Canadian Geographic Explorer, select the
- Canadian Geographic Explorer icon in the Explorer folder on your hard drive,
- then choose Get info from the File menu. Set the preferred size to 5000.
- Close the information window.
